Today is National Genealogy Day, which falls on the second Saturday in March. This year it also happens to fall on the birthday of my closest DNA match (Happy birthday, Steve!). To celebrate Genealogy Day, I’m going to take part in the West in New England blog’s “A Week Without Ancestry.com Challenge.” (Gasp!) For me, the challenge has absolutely nothing to do with any angst towards Ancestry.com or their decision to eliminate their “old search” function. It’s merely an excuse to spend a week focusing my genealogy efforts on organization and education. And, since this is the first week of Lent, giving up Ancestry.com seems like an appropriately qualifying sacrificial thing to do.
Is anyone with me?
